2017 Sep 19 - The Scare Hwy 264

The Ladder
After work, I was on the way to pick up K. I was driving down Highway 264 and was near exit 40 (Hwy 42). I'm driving an older model car so I had the windows down as I'm quite used to not using air conditioner in the afternoons. Let the breeze blow away my worries. I'm in the right hand land and there is a white work truck in the left lane beside me. He pulls ahead of me (nothing not normal about that, it's a 2001 Mazda Protege vs a full sized Chevy truck). All at once I hear the worst noise. I look and see that a reddish color ladder has jumped over the tailgate of the truck and is now slamming into the left lane behind the truck. The clatter was enough to unsettle me, but then I watched as the ladder slid left to the median. Needless to say, I cussed and I think I tried to make up some cuss words. Not really - I just said "What in the hell was that" Then i took inventory of me and my car and just continued on my way. It didn't help matters that now the white work truck is trying to move over to the right median and I think the guy had a nice walk back (maybe a mile) to go get the ladder. He made it across after I and 3 other cars passed him.

My Manager - Different Ladder....and a TIRE
One of my previous Managers at work was driving to Pennsylvania to see her family years ago. It was night time and someone had lost a ladder on the interstate and she ran over it. Caused a lot of damage to her car and I'm sure her nerves. No one was hurt thank God!

Another trip she made to Wilmington NC and was on her way back. A work truck loaded down with tires dropped a tire - complete with RIM in front of her vehicle and she had no where to go but over it. Again, lots of damage to her vehicle. The vehicle that dropped the tire never stopped, just kept on going. I think they should have had the tire fingerprinted.
